Charles on IMDBBorn in 1971 in Washington, DC and raised in Hawaii, Charles has lived a life most people write books about. The son of an army colonel, who was written up in the Los Angeles Times in 1994 by Robin Wright, Charles traveled the world by the time he was 17. He's lived in England, Israel, and all over the US.
He went to high school for a short time in Fort Worth (Southwest) then to London Central (High Wycombe, England). Charles had a vocal scholarship at Tarrant County Junior College and then attended the University of Texas at Arlington. Originally a music major, Charles took up theatre as a means to improve his singing career.
Shortly thereafter, the acting bug took over. Charles began his professional career on stage, working at some of the best theatres in DFW - Circle Theatre, Stage West, and The Hip Pocket Theatre - where he met and performed with his soon-to-be wife, Rachel.
Charles' first television appearance was as "Herman Van Horne" in Chuck Norris' Walker, Texas Ranger movie of the week, aptly subtitled "Trial by Fire".
Since then he's appeared in Fox's Prison Break, Walking Tall: The Payback, starring Kevin Sorbo, and the Lifetime Channel's web series Inspector Mom. Charles also appears in the indie feature film, Splinter, which opened in select theatres late October 2008, and co-stars in upcoming feature films, Shroud and Fright Flick.
Charles played Monkey John in CBSs Comanche Moon, the prequel to the Emmy award winning miniseries, Lonesome Dove. Currently, he has a recurring role as Skinny Pete in the critically acclaimed AMC series, Breaking Bad, which recently won two Emmys. He will be seen again as Skinny Pete when Breaking Bad continues its second season in March, 2009.
Charles was recently cast as Billy in the HBO film, the Untitled Temple Grandin project. Claire Danes plays scientist Temple Grandin, a woman who has autisum. It is based on a true story, about how Grandin helps revolutionize the humane treatment of cattle in the livestock industry. It airs on HBO in May, 2009 and also stars Catherine OHara.
Charles worked as a "recreational therapist" teaching kids in psychiatric hospitals basic acting/improv skills through the Hip Pocket theatre outreach program for about 6 years. Charles also studied mime with Johnny Simons a pupil of Marcel Marceau. He taught theatre/film/voice over at Oh, Look Creative school in Grapevine. Charles is also a producer/performer for SceneShop, a local showcase for short dramatic works written by local and regional writers.
In addition to acting, Charles has performed commercial jingles, provided his voice for a singing toy truck, and has been a guest mime for several dance troupes, including the TCU Ballet, Ballet Concerto, and Contemporary Dance of Fort Worth. He can also be heard as Braham on the show One Piece, airing on the Cartoon Network.
Charles and his family live in Ft. Worth, Texas.
